Firefighters from Henry and a Putnam crew responded to a blaze that threatened a large two story home west of Henry. The attic fire damaged rafters and sheeting but was controlled with about 200 gallons of water. Insurance adjuster valued damage at 3500, with praise for rapid response and teamwork.

Contract Signed For New Post Office At Camp Grove
Congressman Robert Michel reports the Post Office Department signed a contract for a new Camp Grove Illinois post office building. Ground breaking will start soon with completion set for May 1 1961. The lease runs five years with two five year renewal options. Frank Blanco and James Foy are the successful bidders. The site is 35 by 100 feet, about 200 feet south of the present post office, with 700 square feet interior and a loading platform. Rita C Campbell is acting postmaster at Camp Grove.
