Skogmo Inc of Minnesota reports sales of its merchandise vision for eleven months totaling 11,801,643 dollars, compared to 12,602,048 dollars for the same period. A dividend of 1.25 dollars per share is payable January 27 1947 to stockholders of record December 20 1946. Gamble e company operates.

Pvt. Elgin Bay Elgin son of Mr and Mrs Ruben Elgin of Henry enlisted in the United States Army for three years and is stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland. He just completed basic training and awaits shipping orders. He hopes to attend Mortar Transport School before going overseas. He reports basic training included long marches and drills with the 30 caliber machine gun and M1 rifle. He is currently on guard duty and in charge of quarters, expecting to be home for Christmas but furlough was delayed. He writes that his hometown paper the Henry News Republican means a lot to him and sends hello to friends in Henry. Mr and Mrs Malisch of Hancock Wis have purchased the Henry dry cleaning plant from J R Hurd and moved in running Malisch Dry Cleaners. They plan to install a new boiler press steam iron and extractor as material becomes available and will redecorate the front of the building this summer. The family Colleen and Ward reside at the rear while seeking a home in Henry.
Attorney Harry J. Arnold son of Mr and Mrs J Arnold of Rock ford resigns from the attorney general George F Barrett staff effective December 15 to join Carter Oil Company eastern division as legal counsel based at Mattoon Illinois. He previously served six years in the attorney general office including roles as second and part time first assistant. The Arnolds once operated a grocery in Henry and own a farm at Redtown west of Henry.
Edith Helen Pratt RN begins duties as doctor's assistant at Dr B Q Dysart's office. Pratt, a 1946 graduate of St Francis School of Nursing, is the daughter of Mr and Mrs S A Pratt of Henry.
Varna Township High School adult evening school announces a Jan 6 start under John E. Shields Jr with Miss Virginia Skaggs guiding courses. Topics cover home economics and homemaking including sewing care, furnishings, woodwork, finishing, window treatments, tables settings, pressure canners and sugar saving methods.
Harold Jones born January 6, 1901 in Longview Illinois. He taught 26 years with perfect attendance until illness and later served as principal at Mt Zion and Westervelt, Sparland, Glasford high schools. Survived by wife MaryReadhead daughter Helen Louise two brothers and three sisters. Funeral held at Mt Zion Presbyterian Church with Rev William Clark officiating.

Earl Williams eldest brother of Carl Williams of Henry died from a heart attack on Christmas Day while working in radar and television for the government in Brooklyn Canada. He is survived by his wife and three children ages four two and six months. Funeral services were held in Elgin at O'Connor Funeral Home.
A son, David Earl, was born Thursday December 26 at 1 10 pm at St Margaret’s Hospital Spring 2 Donald Lemkau of Henry. The Lemkau family now has two boys and two girls. Henry schools reopened today after Christmas holidays. Schools recessed on Friday December 27. Mr and Mrs Kenneth Chance and Marilyn and Connie will be supper guests tonight of Mr and Mrs Frank Ziegler.
The body of Azzereno Morotto, 51, a Canton coal miner and gambler, was found in a ditch on a farm near Bureau on December 28 by McKenney of Tiskiawa while Morotto’s son in law Charles Kuchan of Canton reported missing since November 24. Police say Morotto was bludgeoned and robbed of several thousand dollars. his auto was later found near the Peoria airport. Morotto owned the Black Eagle tavern in Canton with John Vandells. the mine had closed after an accident. A post mortem was requested and the jury was impaneled to view the body at Norr y Funeral Home in Princeton. Morotto is survived by his widow Olimpia, two daughters, and two brothers.
Archie Gauwitz of La con opens a modern Sparland garage under Gauwitz Sales and Service offering car and truck repair body and fender work auto painting refinishing general repair mobile service and selling accessories and auto supplies. The firm also handles used cars and trucks expanding from Lacon to Sparland.
Henry Williams, a veteran who lost a limb near Cassino Italy while serving with the US Army, receives a new Pontiac coupe from the United States Government. Williams is the son of John Williams of Henry and is shown receiving the title to the car from Charles.

Henry Memorial Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars hosts a Friday January 3 meeting at the K of C club rooms. Carl Williams will present a short talk and Cub Scoutmaster Williams will receive a $5 check for Cub Scouts. Free chow and post meeting entertainment follow the brief business discussion.

The All Varna Church Christmas concert at St Pauls Lutheran Church Varna featured Rev G A Mennicke with Evelyn Junker as accompanist. The program included Christmas medleys, Joy to the World, Gesu Bambino, Cantique de Noel, Christmas Tide and other carols performed by the choir and soloists Lois Lenz Arnold Junker and the congregation.
Miss Luella Worley an educator with roots in Henry Illinois Public School and Normal Illinois trained at Illinois State Normal College. She taught in Lexville and Berwyn before a long tenure at Grace School in Chicago until ill health ended her career. Survived by sister Luella Worley and other relatives services held at Servite and Lindblom parish halls.
Rev. Richard Pritchard, former Henry Presbyterian pastor, accepted an official call to become pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Madison Wisconsin. He will assume duties mid January. The Madison church is growing and Pritchard views the post as a strong service opportunity. He previously served as a student minister in Henry and as a chaplain in the U S Army. The Pritchards, with daughter Lynn, visited Milwaukee before moving to Madison at 2300 Rugby Row. Royal Neighbors set January 8 supper at lodge rooms with installation following.

Net sales reached 439787.19, the highest in 21 years, with net worth 90944.80 and total current assets 19174.30. Total profits paid to stockholders since inception amounted to 644504.66. Directors approved modernization of bulk plants at McNabb Henry and Varna with upgrades and new storage tanks. Authorized increase of Class A preferred stock to 3000 shares and Class B preferred stock to 4000 shares.
A bridal shower for Miss Bernice Biggar, who wed Francis Read of Putnam on December 30, was held Thursday evening December 26 at Miss Annis Quinn’s home. Guests played various games and refreshments were served from a decorated table featuring a caridel centerpiece marked with holly and a bridal veil gift from relatives.
