County Auditor Reports Strong Cash Balance Improvement

Marshall County official M. B. Coker told county board the general fund balance reached 88,395.09 up from 11,691.62 two years earlier and suggested reallocating motor fuel tax and highway funds to avoid antici pation warrants. He noted per capita assessment above 1100 while total assessments fell, and discussed farm, mine, and tax receipts along with inheritance and dog tax figures.

Nativity Story Presented At Swaney Auditorium

KNabb Swaney and Magnolia communities stage a Christmas pageant of the Nativity with a 48 voice chorus and solo numbers. Sparland Man Awarded Pension by County Board

Walter Pride, 82, of Sparland, received a blind pension Monday from the Marshall County Board of Supervisors after witnesses J. O. Peintner and F. Gebr. testified he is almost blind and entitled to aid. The board also voted to purchase glasses for Henrietta Gray, daughter of the late World War II veteran James Henry, who was killed in Whitefield Town.

Ertle Elected Commander of Marshall County American Legion

A. E. Ertle of Henry was elected commander of the Marshall County American Legion to succeed O. C. Echols of Lacon at Toluca on Monday. He will appoint a Henry adjutant and Henry finance officer, with other officers drawn from county posts. Attendance exceeded 75, with Gale Johnson and Verne Gray present. A 16-member Henry delegation attended. The county group will sponsor a Golden Gloves tournament in Toluca, dates to be announced. Henry post met in its new Edward Street building. dedication planned after year’s start. Furniture donations are sought, especially chairs.

Supervisors Dined At Marshall County Farm

George Wiley and Mrs. Wiley hosted a Sunday chicken dinner for county supervisors and spouses at the Marshall County Farm near Sparland. Attendees included several board members and guests from La Con, Roberts, Whitefield, Richland, and Sparland Baptist Church, with regrets from others. A new complete bathroom outfit installed by William Frank & Son of Sparland was praised by residents.

County Treasurer Files 75 000 Bond

Henry W. Schulte county treasurer filed a 75 600 dollar personal bond with the Marshall County Board. The bond is signed by G. W. Smith Harry Seibold James P. Hickey B. E. Davis Alfred R. Final Tribute Paid for Anton Stadel in Henry Illinois

Anton Stadel, longtime Henry resident, died at home December 2 1937 after bronchial pneumonia. Born January 27 1858 on Hank's Hill Hopewell Township Illinois he lived on the Stadel farm then moved to Henry with his wife Sophia Wunder. Survived by children John Joseph Kathryn and Rose and six grandchildren. Funeral at St. V j c with Rev. Andrew Schauer, interment Calvary Cemetery.
