Report indicates a break-in at the Schafer Jewelry store on Edward Street occurred early today. Damaged door and frame, merchandise valued around 700 dollars stolen. fingerprints taken as Sheriff Jay Evans investigates with no suspects yet identified.
In a Wenona area service a pastor led mass at Calvary Cemetery for a Neuhalfen relative. Born Sept 3 to Charles and Mary Neuhalfen, the family lived in Wenona before relocating to Farmington area. survived by siblings and a daughter Dorothy.
Henry Wimner Schlosser born April 29 1889 in Hopewell Township died August 18 1965 at St Margaret s Hospital Spring Valley Illinois aged 76 3 20 He married Elsie DeWalt February 18 1914 and had two children Surviving daughter Lois and son Milford plus four grandsons and three brothers Funeral services were held August 20 at Ries Mortuary with burial in Henry City Cemetery Card of thanks from Milford Schlosser and Laurence Ziegler family
The obituary notes Mrs. Lillie who died on Web 18, 1985 at home. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Mes Mortuary with Lorraine Walker presiding. She is survived by five grandsons, Robert Stone, Frank Roth, two other daughters, and several great grandchildren.
Harry Robert Ingram, 74, of Sparland died Monday at Bel-Wood Nursing Home in Peoria after a year as a resident. Born July 7, 1891 in Sparland, he was a retired LeTourneau-Westinghouse parts packer and member of Sparland Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Helen Kay Clemens Ingram, three sons, a stepson, five daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral is 2 p.m. tomorrow at Sparland Baptist Church with burial in Sparland Cemetery. viewing today at Robert Anderson Mortuary in Chillicothe and at the church one hour prior to services.
Railroads moved 3 550 000 automobiles by rail in 1965, a sevenfold rise from 508 475 in 1958 and about half of annual production. Piggyback car loadings grew from 168 150 in 1955 to 800 216 in 1964, with rapid continued expansion.
Rotarian Gerald Swanson led the Varna Rotary Club August program with speaker Roland G. Nelson of Plainfield Illinois, a Prather Pulverizing Company sales engineer. Nelson urged better local grain storage, noting rising farm valuations from 192 to 100,000 and a 75 cost per 100 revenue. Reverend Fant joined the club to bring membership to 27 as visiting Rotarians and guests attended the evening.
Mrs. William Gray 63 was found dead in bed at her home near Camp Grove. Funeral services set for 10 30 a.m. Thursday at St Patrick's church Camp Grove with Rev John King officiating. Visitation at the family home today 3 to 8 p.m. Rosary at 8 p.m. Cox Memorial Home of Wyoming in charge. Death attributed to a heart attack after long illness. Survived by husband three sons Father William Gray Havana Raymond at home Robert Speer two daughters Mrs Thomas Foley Camp Grove Mrs William Colgan Princeville one sister Mrs Carol Chambers Knoxville Tenn one brother Charles Boyle Peoria and ten grandchildren.
Illinois Power Co and Northern Illinois Gas Co bid to supply gas to the proposed Jones and Laughlin Steel plant in Hennepin Illinois. A Sept 29 hearing in Springfield will hear preliminaries on extending mains to the village and separating service for the industrial facility. Illinois Power already serves part of Putnam County and runs a large generating station near Hennepin.
The Henry post office will be closed all day Monday September 6 for Labor Day. Mail will be received and dispatched as usual but there will be no window service rural or city delivery that day.
A minor two-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on School Street in Henry involving a car and a truck. No injuries were reported and Trooper Jim Owens of Canton investigated the scene.
Mr and Mrs Walter ebb and daughter Patricia spent the weekend in Chicago meeting friends including Mrs Anita Real and Susan at the Indiana Dunes. Joe Stadel visited St Margaret's hospital in Spring Valley for medical care. Magnolia hosted Mr and Mrs Joe Malone with their son Scott on base, their 8 hour pass allowed exploration around the area. Mrs Garnet Wright dined with Don Coven's family in Peoria and attended The Music Man at Cornstalk theatre. Mr and Mrs Wallace Carlson attended the 66 Ford show in Chicago with relatives visiting O Hare and dining at a Fred Harvey restaurant. Kenneth Millier and children from Louisville visited Wenry for funeral services of Mrs Lillie Daily with Rex Hoy and Sharon from Shawnee Mission joining relatives.
Col. Thomas R. Jackson of Henry Illinois piloted Melody Ace a four year old gelding to a record 2 01 5 at Scioto Downs Columbus Ohio in an invitational pace before 7802 spectators. Dugtty Fearless also won at Columbus in 2 11 proving Jackson’s horses excel in Ohio circuits this season.
Mrs Bernice Roth hosted guests of Mrs Miller and Mrs Hoy through Sunday morning. Mrs Bethany Reyes and her mother Mrs Garnet Wright dined at the Ranch yesterday to celebrate Mrs Reyes' August 23 birthday.
Friday night to Sunday visitors included Mrs. Dardano's parents Mr and Mrs John Pasqueno and sister and family Mr and Mrs Gary Alberts with La Dawna of Taylorville.
