Magnolia Gap Paving on State Route 89 To Begin Soon

Serious Accident at Lacon Ferry Injures Two Local Boat Enthusiasts
Two Peoria men Ernie Lamon and George Springer suffered severe injuries near the Lacon ferry when their speeding boat struck the ferry cable. Springer lost a leg and Lamon was injured. both were hospitalized. Rescue came from Gerald Strong and John Hulett, with investigators to review liability under a Lloyds of London backed city policy. The incident occurred as the ferry crossed, with the cable hanging high above the water.

R H Monier of Sparland secretary of the Marshall Putnam Fair announces the secretary's office at the Fair Grounds will open Monday August 29 for exhibit entries and other business. New Fence and Paint Planned for Fair Grounds Race Track
Volunteers completed a new board fence around the Marshall Putnam Fair half mile race track and today will paint it white. Advertising spaces along the amphitheatre facing section will raise funds. 14 spaces at 16 feet each sell for 6 dollars first year and 2 dollars annually thereafter. Walter Wood of Henry handles painting of signs. 4-H Club building also being painted under Eugene Stadel.

Leonard Wright ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Dale Wright of Putnam caught the limit of black bass at Lake Senachwine with his casting rod. He and his father went to the lake Monday and in a short time he proved to be a mighty good angler for his years, showing fishing is good at Lake Senachwine for a skilled fisherman.
