Robert Turnbull longtime La Prairie resident died Thursday at United Presbyterian Church in LaPrairie. The Rev Page officiated as selections were sung by Mrs Aman Wilson and others. Born 1864 in LaPrairie he was a farmer and livestock man. married Sept 16 1896 to Scott. Survived by wife Margaret, son Eu Turnbull, five daughters and two sons, with many relatives and friends mourning his loss.

Grand opening draws 1500 plus to new variety store
The all new variety store held its grand opening last Saturday during Dollar Day with more than 1500 people registering. Prizes were awarded including a picnic table, electric fan, suitcase, blanket, and more as the event featured lights on display and a dance attracting many in town.

Funeral services for Herman Hagen age 86 will be held at Green funeral home after his heart attack at the fairgrounds living quarters. A native of Wircon Germany he came to the United States at 21 and was a familiar horse trainer and figure at the Marshall Putnam fair grounds. Interment will follow at Dunlap cemetery after services conducted by Dr T J Marshall Crapp.

Former Whitefield Resident Zella Boyd Dies in California
Zella Hunnells Boyd, formerly of Whitefield and a Henry High School graduate, died August 15 1955 in Ingleside California after a lingering illness described as aterphic cateral scheosis. Buried August 18 at Inglewood Cemetery with funeral services at the memorial chapel and an Eastern Star ritual. Her brother Walter Runnells and wife Lew from Greeley attended the funeral. Survivors include her two sons Robert and George. other brothers Ralph and Garth Runnells and families.
