James Harrigan Stipp aged 70 died after a third stroke. He was a Putnam physician with a large practice in Putnam and surrounding counties. He married Hattie Barnhart and left three children, with a funeral held at his home and burial in Putnam cemetery.

Magnolia Grange Fair Opens In Two Weeks Of Exhibits And Fun
The Magnolia Grange Agricultural Fair is set to run four days starting Tuesday September 5 with exhibits due in place. Dairy cattle show on Wednesday at 10 00 pm, Poland Chinas at 11 06, Duroc judging at 1 00 pm, eel cattle at 2 00 pm and a baseball game at 3 00 pm. Totu films will be shown. The Toluca Band performs all day Thursday. Another ball game Cardinals versus Toluca at 3 00 pm. Louis Reuben Brothers entertainment in the evening. Friday features a Cardinals versus Magnolia game and the Magnolia Band performs. Prizes increased and entries up, promising a larger fair than before.
