Local house guests and travelers from Ottawa LaSalle Granville and Chicago visited Hennepin families through the weekend. The community welcomed several returning youths to school with new faculty at Hennepin high and grade schools and preparations for the September 3 opening.
Illinois houses the greatest share of steam fittings and hot water heating apparatus production with 24 plants employing about 12 000 workers. Wages and salaries total roughly 4 300 000 yearly and the value of peacuts is estimated at 55 000 000.
Illinois leads the nation in stationery goods and machine folding manufacture. Thirty eight plants employ over 3,900 workers. Wages exceed 6 million dollars annually and output value surpasses 18 million dollars each year.
Varna M E Church lists morning worship at 10 45 a m Sunday school at 9 45 Epworth League at 7 p m and evening worship at 8 p m led by Pastor A H Dickerson.
Varna First Lutheran Church led by Rev. K. A. Nilsson announces Sunday school and services at the usual morning hours next Sunday with evening worship at seven o'clock.
LaPrairie and Saratoga Methodist churches announce services next Sunday at the usual time. Pastor Ward expects to be present and looks forward to welcoming many attendees.
LaPrairie United Presbyterian schedules Bible school at 10:00 and worship at 11:00 with August 26 sermon on Excuses. Last Sabbath morning a sermon on I am Debtor was heard. A primary Sabbath school workers conference was held at Mrs. R J Martin's home last Friday afternoon with all officers present and a profitable meeting.
Sparland Methodist Church plans four Missionary programs to support the Sunday school. The first is Sunday September 2 after church school. Services next Sunday are at 10:00 church school 11:00 morning worship and 7:45 union service. Sam Buck, a student for the ministry from near Lacon, will preach at both services.
Theran Church will be dismissed and all members are urged to attend services at Secor. The collection, which will be taken at Secor shall be for mission purposes. All who intend to go are kindly requested to bring their basket dinner along.
Sparland Baptist Church outlines Sunday services with Sunday school at 10 and morning worship at 11 led by Rev. Pelton on the fourth sermon about the Model Prayer Our Father s Will. Evening Union service at M E church with Rev Hinsel and a recap of recent musical numbers. The Helping Hand meets Friday afternoon. YP U discussed magazines with leaders Mrs Bussell and Mrs McCartney. Next week s lesson How to Read the Bible led by Jeanette Babington.
Jay Laible attends the state fair school in Springfield for a week. Richland Grangers and other Richland players played in Owen pasture. the Grangers lost heavily. Wayne Buck and Gaylord Peterson win all four horseshoe games at the Farm Bureau picnic in Peoria, earning state honors for a future contest. Edith McCully returns home healthier from Peoria as the McCully clan gathers at Sharp McCully's. Emory Hultgren visits Varna relatives, while Jay Coleson visits the Hultgren home. Frank Kunkle spends the weekend with his parents in Peoria. Mrs Lou Otto and son Robert Louis return from Bloomington.
LaRose Evangelical Lutheran Church invites the public to Luther Day observances at Secor Illinois with English language services. Morning service led by Prof Rich Neitzel of Concordia Seminary Springfield and afternoon service by Rev Paul Schulz of Springfield.
A baby specialist visit was made on Tuesday and the newborn arrived early Sunday morning. Families from Bloomington Peoria LaRose Wenona and Mil lers Park are mentioned with visits and gatherings as relatives and friends celebrate the birth and health of mother and child.
Mx and Mrs. Wm Blackburn Sr and grandparents join Mrs Otis McClary and three children and Miss Alta Mae Buckingham as they drive to Peoria for the Farm Bureau picnic at Glen Oak Park. Mrs Ray Nightwonger and her Sparland son visit their parents and help with threshers’ work.
