Charles M. Turner Dies Former Legislator at Wenona
Charles M. Turner longtime Illinois legislator from the Aahtet Senate district dies at Wenona of a heart attack at home. Funeral services were held at the Wenona Cemetery with the Rev Dickerson officiating. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, several grandchildren, and a widow who died earlier. Turner served from 1916 to 1938 and was postmaster of Wenona before his legislative career.

Putnam Service Honor Roll Dedicated at Local Home
Mr and Mrs Francis Murphy of Putnam admire a service honor roll dedicated Sunday evening. The Murphys have three sons in active service and the roll sits on their lot beside the family grocery. The eight foot high cabinet, six feet long, is painted white with blue trim and red posts. Names on cards are mounted inside an illuminated plywood background. About 350 people attended the dedication in Putnam.

Henry School Bus Sold To Peoria Man

Tom Duke, son of Mrs Clarence Duke of Henry, returned on a five day leave from New York to Henry. A seaman first class and gunner on a merchant ship, he has had one overseas trip carrying supplies to Allied armies. He traveled with fellow seaman Joseph Ferguson of Dallas, Texas, and enjoys mail from home. He trained at Great Lakes and Gulfport before assignment in New York. He could not publish where he had been or where he may be sent next. He plans another overseas run when duty resumes.

George E. Willey, 54, native of Marshall County born east of Magnolia, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home. He was a former rural mail carrier and left a wife, five children, and two grandchildren. Newsprint price hike authorized to raise costs
The Office of Price Administration issued orders on August 14 permitting a $4 per ton rise in newsprint prices, effective September 1 7. The increase will push consumer costs by about $6 per ton and affect the Henry News and other newspapers nationwide.
