Woman struck by lightning on Lake Senachwine pier
Mrs. Zada Davis, attendant at the Lake Senachwine dance pavilion, was stunned when lightning struck near her on a lake shore pier Tuesday afternoon. She recovered gradually with treatment by Dr. Bruce I Ryder. Sidney Mercer, nearby, was dazed but unharmed.

Orchard Fire Sweeps Nine Hundred Trees Near Henry
A grass fire Sunday morning swept through the Wagner game farm orchard across the river from Henry, damaging many of the 900 apple trees, some potentially killed. Fire origin unknown. Percy and Mrs Clift spotted smoke and alerted Henry fire department, with a water-filled spraying tank aiding the effort. Gilbert Wagner of Chicago owns the orchard and plans a full loss estimate after his arrival.

Senachwine Band Performs At Illinois State Fair Visit
The Senachwine band earned its biggest career moment by performing in Springfield after an unsolicited invitation from State Fair officials. The group traveled by Sparland school bus with driver Webber and Hunt, plus accompanying passengers and additional members arriving by private cars. They joined both Republican and Democratic headquarters and marched before reviewers while awaiting the contest results.

Two tracts of farm land in Putnam between McNaan and Franville sold at public auction to settle Lydia A. Newburn's estate. G L Herbolsheimer of Peru bought two sections for 148.50 an acre. A 50 acre tract with 20 acres timber sold for 35 an acre to H E Hutton Magnolia. Growing crops reserved for the estate and 1987 taxes assumed.

Hennepin Bridge Work Advances in Low Water
Low water on the Illinois River has allowed Wisconsin Bridge Co to push substructure work for the Hennepin bridge. Land piers on the Bureau County side and river piers near the island are progressing, with divers resolving a river-side cofferdam leak. Henry residents Kaifer and Nichols ride in a Chevrolet when struck by a car from Salle on Route 29 south of Henry. A third vehicle carrying Edward O Krotz and Campico, crew members building a Rock Island bridge over Dry Creek, hit the Henry car a second time. Both crews received minor injuries. all three cars damaged and sent to garages for repairs.
