Ethel J Kildow born January 9 1891 in Sheffield died after illness in Springfield. She lived in Putnam most of her life attended business college in Quincy and Normal University taught in several schools and remained faithful to the Christian church. Funeral services at Putnam Christian church were conducted by Ray Gaines Cook with burial rites by the Kahs family. Relatives in from out of town included Frank H Milwaukee George Kildew Joe low Joliette J Hemmick and others.

The Henry Public Library now housed in the Krenz building beside Parkside Inn, offers free access for inside-city residents with $1 yearly for out-of-city ecards. Cardholders may borrow one fiction and two reference books, two week time limits, fines of two cents per day for late books, and Saturday hours 10:30 to 5. Donations of suitable books are welcome through Librarian Miss Mattie Evans.

County Treasurer Fred Bestold presented the complete 1926 tax collection report to the State-Treasurer. Marshall County collected 91,590.70 in taxes with total taxes and fees at 603,779.67, including 18,113.38 in office earnings. The finance committee received 14,813.39. All taxes for 1926 were collected, with Richland and Lacon townships showing increase.

First Concrete Poured on Route 89 in Putnam County
The first concrete on the new Route 89 in eastern Putnam County was laid last Tuesday afternoon, about 300 feet from John Lyons place between McNabb and Granville. Culverts near McNabb are nearing completion, and crews expect rapid progress as graders level the route. After finishing to Granville, the plant will move to McCorner. Grading from Metamora to Washburn has been let and work south of pressing rapidly.

Six-year-old Chillicothe boy dies from appendicitis
Edward Anthony Wilhelm six, son of Mr and Mrs Ed Wilhelm of Chillicothe, died at Henry hospital Wednesday morning at 7 30 after weeks of illness. The cause of death was appendicitis. Born June 6 1921 in Bradford he leaves two sisters Kathryn and Edna besides his parents. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at St Edward church Chillicothe at 9 30 with burial in Chillicothe cemetery.
