Right Of Way Secured For Route 29 In Henry County

Mrs George M Brown aged 97 Henry’s oldest resident died at 4 a m Sunday Aug 11 at her daughter’s home in Peoria Funeral services were held at 1 30 a m Tuesday at the Green funeral home Rev Darrel Williams pastor of Henry Methodist Church conducted the service Pallbearers were six grandsons and memorials may go to the Henry Methodist Church She was born January 25 1860 near Wenona lived in LaSalle and Marshall counties before marrying George M Brown April 1877 They later moved to Henry where she lived until health failed Surviving children include Willis Ernest Andrew Mrs George Ziemer Ralph Nes and John Orr plus Mrs Roby and 14 grandchildren 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren Funeral attendance included relatives from Elgin Streator and Wenona

Tom Hopkins of Granville showed the Champion Shorthorn steer in the open class at the Illinois State Fair this week, placing first in its class and winning the open class with the champion’s ribbon. Archi Hopkins also had a junior show 22nd place heavyweight Shorthorn steer. George Rithmiller of Toluca showed his heavyweight Shorthorn steer to 16th place in the junior show. Larry McKee of Bell Plain won a blue ribbon for his electricity project. Gustafson twins Jan and Janet of Saratoga will show Thursday, with Duane Carr of Nabb and Chuck Hatton of Nabb competing in the show ring today. Larry and Jim Petersen of Hermepin showed Ayrshires with multiple top placements in the junior show. Alfred M Morine and Soni of Hennepin showed the third place Duroc boar in the open show. John Peterson will show dairy cattle on Friday. McMarshall Farms (McKee Brothers) of Washburn showed 24 Red Polled cattle including the grade champion bull and reserve grand champion female, with six other first-place wins. August Kunkel and saps of Granville have 12 Holsteins exhibited tomorrow.
