Funeral Rites Held for Fr Harrington at St Joseph’s
Rt Rev J H Bishop of Peoria presided at funeral services for Fr Harrington retired pastor of St Joseph’s Henry. The ceremony at St Joseph’s Church included priests deacons and nuns from St Mary’s and other locations. Interment followed at St Vincent’s Cemetery LaSalle with a large clergy and lay procession and a luncheon for visiting clergy.

Members of the Henry troop of Boy Scouts will hold a paper drive next Thursday afternoon August 21. Donations should be placed on doorstep or curb no later than one o clock the day of pickup. Proceeds fund improvements at the Henry Scout camp across the Illinois River.

Radio Demonstration Proves Value for Marshall County Sheriff
Sheriff Park L. McAllister used newly installed radio send and receive sets to locate and identify a suspect. Trucker Arthur Wilson alerted police after spotting a man under a tree in Crow Creek bottoms. McAllister contacted Peoria by radio and learned the prisoner was William Hollenbeck, an escapee from Bartonville State Hospital, returning him to the state institution.

County Tax Values Increase By Over Half a Million
Final reports from the Marshall County Board of Review show county tax valuations rose 511 605 this year. Lacon Township led gains at 96 055 with Bennington Toluca second at 76 106 and Henry Township third at 66 426. Detours Planned as Routes 29 and 17 Rebuilt
State highway department approves oiling detours around Lacon Sparland and Henry as Routes 29 and 17 near the Illinois River are rebuilt. The bottom east side road from Henry to Lacon will carry most traffic, with a three mile south east detour near Lacon also oiled.
