Longtime Lacon matron Blanche Grieves dies in Peoria
Mrs Blanche Blackstone Grieves of Lacon died Saturday at Proctor Hospital Peoria aged 79 she would have turned 81 August 26. She was widow of John William Grieves co founder of Lacon Woolen Mills and mother of John Paul and Blake Blackstone. Funeral services were held at her Lacon residence with burial in Bullman Grieves cemetery.

First Hunting License Bought by Gus Apfel in Territory
Gus Apfel the well known Henry farmer is the first to buy a hunting license this year. He obtained the license Tuesday from city clerk Guy K Child shortly after the clerk received the first shipment of license blanks.
