The 1938 premium books of the Marshall Putnam Fair Association are printed and ready at the Henry News Republican office and by association officers. The 104 page book shows growth with eight extra pages and about 1800 copies printed. prizes total around twelve thousand dollars across departments. The five day fair opens Labor Day with 14 Chicago WLS artists, three city racing days, and Democratic, Republican, and candidate events featuring Lyons and Lucas. Bands from Sparland Lostant Lacon Toluca Venona and society horse shows are scheduled, with a long list of officers and township directors running the event management and programs.

PWA Grant Push Spurs Henry Officials to Act

No Referendum Planned on 1938 Corn Crop Marketing Quotas

A countywide report based on assessor records shows 2 825 automobiles and pickups in use in Marshall County on April 1 1938 up from 2 227 in 1936 while horses and mules drop from 3 867 to 8 044. Trucks rise from 283 in 1936 to 340 in 1938 with farming trends toward tractors noted. Henry township becomes a trucking hub with grain handled by trucks. Henry has 111 dogs while Evans Township reports 129. Henry is rebounding economically and is not a ghost town, despite past concerns.

4 H Show Tonight at the Fair Grounds
The 1988 home talent show sponsored by 4 H Clubs of Marshall and Putnam Counties, led by Eugene V. Stadel, unfolds tonight at the Fair Grounds on an open air stage. Meeting of Fair Friday Night at Legion Hall Henry
An important meeting of the Mar shall Putnam Fair Association will be held Friday night at the Legion hall in Henry to discuss and decide several matters related to the 1938 Fair less than a month away. Mishaps At The Horseshoe Courts In Central Park
Two accidents marred the horseshoe courts in Central Park. John Urbanke was struck on the head by a steel shoe and now rests at home with a head wound treated by ice packs. Charles Hofer suffered a hand injury when struck by a shoe, rupturing a blood vessel. Both players are more cautious now while pitching.
