John H. Wagner mayor envisions expansive Henry Harbor growth with deep-water channels, mooring, launching ramps, and full marine services. He notes a prior city buy and federal support, seeking $25,000 more to complete Henry boat harbor progress and boost boating as a regional business.
The district announces a new principal and a revised schedule starting Friday September 6. The plan includes morning sessions and a focus on physical education and a youth program led by Akin, with details for the 17 year program.
Hofer Lanes of Henry invites players to two more gatherings to organize bowling groups. A Friday Aug 12 7:30 pm meeting at the Farm Bureau building will form the men’s scratch league and set rules. Henrys council informally approves hiring Clarence E. Hammond of Scruges & Hammond to direct planning and zoning. Watercott’s department store suffered a Friday night burglary with entry via the roof and a broken safe. About $1098 in cash, four salts, two pairs of shoes, two suitcases, and $6 in hunting license fees were taken. firm books left scattered, no checks stolen, fingerprints unavailable. The case marks the store’s first break-in in 83 years, according to George Koehler.
Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Friday at Green Funeral Home for Charles Reinbeck 71 who died Tuesday at a Peoria hospital. Interment will be in Henry County Cemetery. Survived by sister Mrs James Wabel and niece Mrs Frank Onyan. Complete obituary forthcoming.
