Expansion plans for Henry Gamble Store announced
Bruce K. Bauter owner says a 50 by 88 foot building will be erected on the lot south of the present Gamble store, replacing a former miniature zoo. The addition will expand appliance and furniture. Batuer expects to move in November with Kastner Steel Buildings of Princeton handling the contract.

Ong Airline launches service to six cities July 31
William A. Ong president of Ong Aircraft operation announces Illinois Commerce Commission approval for expanded service. Beginning July 31 Ong Airlines schedules four daily flights to Chicago from Peoria Springfield Champaign and St Louis with 9 passenger Cessna aircraft and plans for larger 14 to 17 seat planes within 12 to 18 months. The proposed routes include connections via Washburn and Lacon with potential service to Henry and Marshall Putnam airport access.
