NIU Students cited for aiding police in theft case
NIU junior Stephen Soli of Henry and Randall Summers of age helped police end a year long theft forgery spree. Soli chased the thief, obtained a license number, and aided investigations linking him to 45 wallet thefts and $1200 in forged checks. They received framed citations at a ceremony led by NIU director Donald Bruer.

Last Rites For Leslie Gustafson Held Monday
Funeral services for Leslie Gustafson 55 of rural Henry were held Monday at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church Castleton with Rev. Floyd Ohman officiating. Burial followed in Henry. Survivors include wife Mathilda and two daughters Kathryn and Ann. Gustafson farms near Magnolia and served on the Henry grade school board and Soil and Water Conservation district.

Bloodmobile Fails To Make Quota in Putnam County Visit
The Red Cross bloodmobile collected 88 pints Thursday, short of the 127 pint quota for the Putnam County visit. Forty-two walk in donors attended at the American Legion home. 13 were rejected. Two donors reached the one gallon milestone: Judy Maholland, Putnam County high school teacher, and Father Kauffman of King's House of Retreat.

Putnam prepares for Sesqui Pioneer Days May 30 to June 2 with tours of historic sites and exhibits. The Henry city council opened bids for city insurance with Nationwide submitting the low bid of 1533 and for fluoridation equipment with Illinois Meter Co at 2204.85. The council adopted a delinquent water bill collection plan and repealed the 1967 service occupation tax. Renwick Lewis prepared a revised federal grant application for a Sewage treatment plant.

Grade Board Sets May 15 Bids for Building Contracts
The Grade School board met April 8 1968 at 7 30 p m approving previous minutes and bills. It issued 65000 anticipation warrants to the Educational fund and extended contracts for 1968 69 to James Magorian Greta Eastman and Laura Lee Campbell. Architects Ziegele and Stewart outlined plans and bidding procedures with bids to be opened May 15 at 8 pm. Construction plans become available after April 15 in Peoria. Dave Schmid discussed school bonds to Chicago on April 22 and investment schedules. The board reviewed a St Marys School facility rental proposal but took no final action. Meeting adjourned to April 23.
