Joseph Ely Dies At 76 In Henry Home
Joseph Ely died of heart failure at 6 20 AM on Easter eve after a brief illness. Born February 25 1860 in Germany he came to the U S in 1855 and farmed near East Peoria before moving to Henry in 1908. Surviving are ten children and many grandchildren with funeral rites at Henry and East Peoria.

Motor car service starts on Dwight Peoria branch
The Chicago and Alton road begins motor car service on the Dwight Peoria branch replacing passenger trains 61 and 62. Train M-11 with a trailer seats 65 and is powered by heavy duty gasoline motors. If successful it could lead to broader motor car use and steam locomotive replacements. Trains 60 and 63 continue on the old basis for now.

Freight wreck near Varna halts trains for hours
Eastbound freight No. 110 derailed about a mile beyond Varna on the Chicago and Alton line. Spikes loosened, a rail skidded, three box cars overturned, one track dislodged. No injuries. wreck crew worked several hours to clear, with passenger and express trains detouring and resuming schedules by late Sunday morning.

Francis Simeon Dennis aged 81 died April 2 1926 at his daughter’s home in Chicago. Born February 28 1845 in Henry township he was the son of James and Mary Catherine Dennis. Survived by two daughters and a son all in Chicago four grandchildren. Funeral held Sunday at Smith's chapel attended by family members.

Kennell Funeral Services Held Friday
Funeral services for Mrs Edward Kennell of Wenona were conducted Friday at the Catholic church with burial in Wenona cemetery. She died March 30 at 11 15 p m after a weeklong illness of flu pneumonia and heart trouble aged 61. She is survived by her husband six children two grandchildren and several siblings and was a Catholic parishioner at Wenona.

The Farm Bureau officers christened a new oil firm Marshall Putnam Oil. The by lines set 1000 shares preferred at 25 dollars and 2000 common shares for Bureau members. A stockholders meeting will be held within 30 days at Henry. Four members were named to pursue bulk stations and temporary service to two counties. Burglars Loot Watercotts Store in Early Morning Break-In
Burglars invaded Watercott's store in the early hours, seizing about eighteen men’s suits, hats, shirts, and 17 boxes of ladies’ chiffon hose. The raid, through the rear door, left several suits behind and involved a haul valued at $600 to $700.
