Services Held On Wednesday For Mrs Edward Wood
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 30 at the home of Mr and Mrs Irving Dretsch in Herey for Mrs Edith Wood who died Monday morning. The service was conducted by Key George H Wilson with vocal numbers by Mrs Frank Clift and Mrs C C Pagemiller. Pallbearers included two sons George Wood and Young Wood and four sons in law Keltsch Robert Searle Ralph Thompson and Ed Schlosser. Granddaughters served as flower carriers. Anna Belle Crompton born September 10 1870 in Beards town Ill daughter of James Crompton and wife of Edward Loren Wood lived most of her life in Henry vicinity. Ten children survive: George DePue Young Sparland Robert Wood Grace Thielbur Nellie Thompson Ilda Schlosser Helen Byrd Edna Dietsch Irene Searle. A sister Mrs Mae Burkhart, 30 grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive. One son Glenn died in infancy. The couple observed their fifty sixth wedding anniversary last August. Mrs Wood had broken a hip about a year ago and had been cared for by daughters since, though she largely recovered until five weeks ago. She died at home April 8 at 6 10 a m. The family notes her love of home and neighbors. One son Robert Wood of Sparland could not attend due to scarlet fever in his home. Attending relatives came from out of town including Mr and Mrs Ralph Thompson and daughter Young Wood and daughter Marjorie Schlosser Pauline Thielbar of Peoria, Mr and Mrs George Wood and children, Mr and Mrs Henry Lazewski of DePue, Mr and Mrs Ralph Eggers of LaSalle, and Mrs Helen Groner of Washington DC.

Nephew of R O Green Is Pacific War Veteran
Lieutenant Colonel Woodrow B Wilmot, nephew of R O Green of Peoria, has returned after flying 78 missions in the South Pacific with 168 combat hours. A former Dunlap High School principal, he commanded a fighter squadron of the 13th Army Air Forces and earned the Army Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and two battle stars. He is a 1932 Dunlap High School and 1937 Bradley College graduate, resides on Parkside Drive with his wife and son, and was listed in a March 28 Army communique.

Hassler served in the U S Navy aboard a submarine tender and took part in Cavite Harbor action and the Philippines evacuation.
