Rev Schauer Celebrates 35th Priesthood Anniversary
Rev. Andrew Schauer marked his 35th anniversary of ordination with a solemn high Mass at 10 o'clock Tuesday. Assisting were Rev. Fr. Wercel Sholar deacon Rev. Henkel sub deacon Rev. Frank Faulstich master of ceremonies with visiting priests including Rt. Rev. F. Gahlman and Father Henry Schubert. The St Marys School children's choir sang. He was ordained in Bamberg Germany and came to America in 1908 serving Peoria Danville Warsaw Henry and St Marys Church since 1916. He helped plan the 1919 20 school building and parsonage projects and is beloved by parishioners and students.

Helena Wunder Dies at 76 in Lacon
Mrs Helena Wunder who married Paul Wunder died at her home in Lacon Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. She was born in Germany 76 years ago and is survived by her sons John Wunder of Lacon and Pete Wunder of Peoria.

Route to Peoria finalizes east side Illinois River road
The Illinois State highway department awarded 189 444 in contracts to Central West Construction for grading 9.61 miles of the Hennepin to Peoria route from Spring Bay to Holton in Woodford County. Work includes 5.81 miles toward Holton and 3.80 miles south of Holton plus two bridge projects. The project creates scenic blacktop along the river, linking Hennepin Henry and Lacon with future paving possible.

Last Rites Monday For Mrs Lina Vale Former Resident
Mrs Lina Vale 78 widow of Oliver G Vale died at her home in Oglesby at 7 45. The remains were taken to Henry for burial beside husband and son Leland. She was born May 20 1858 in Salina Jefferson County Iowa and moved to Henry with her husband when he was depot agent. Funeral services were held at Union Church Oglesby with Rev Harold Garner in charge and burial followed in Henry City Cemetery.

Putnam County authorities say a rural theft ring preying on farms in Putnam and neighboring counties has been halted. Two suspects, Clarence Wells of Fandon and George Cameron of Ottawa, were arrested after a violent confrontation with Sheriff Lawrence Ellena in Hennepin. Cameron remains hospitalized with a bullet wound while Ellena recovers from injuries.
