Simone Blum became Individual World Champion in the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Jumping Championship as Tryon 2018 wrapped up. The two week event drew 500000 expected visitors but attendance and economic impact fell short due to unfinished facilities, heat, and approaching hurricane. Canadian rider Eric Lamaze called the championship the worst he had experienced.
