Carolina Memorial Sanctuary in Mills River donated a permanent conservation easement to Conserving Carolina on Oct 2 ensuring the 11 acre site remains a natural burial ground. Green burial practices avoid embalming and use biodegradable containers with shallow graves and post burial plant growth.

Henderson County Shred Day and Drug Take Back in Flat Rock

Henderson County, the Village of Flat Rock, the Sheriff's Office and Hope Rx host a free Document Shred and Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday Oct. 13 at the Village Town Center. A Village-sponsored shred truck will shred residential records on site. The event also offers Drug Take Back disposal of outdated prescription and over-the-counter drugs with sheriff’s office and Hope Rx participation.
