Brevard Alumni Run Green River Adventures Featured on PBS

A Saluda outdoors business owned by Sara and Tim Bell, Brevard College alumni, was featured on PBS North Carolina Weekend Episode 15, Season 20. The segment filmed in August 2022 highlights canopy ziplining whitewater kayaking and waterfall rappelling on the Green River Gorge. The Bells credit BC’s Wilderness Leadership program for leadership and staff development and say they hire many BC alumni for river certification courses.

Carolina Mountain Club marks centennial with free July 16 party

The Carolina Mountain Club invites the public to a free family-friendly centennial celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday July 16 at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. The event features 20 plus booths, guided hikes, kids activities, live music, food trucks, ice cream, and free Arboretum admission. Founded in 1923, the Asheville group maintains 400 plus miles of trails including sections of the Appalachian Trail and Mountains to Sea Trail, and collaborates with the Forest Service National Park Service and Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
