Laurel Park Budget Expands Roads Plans and Fire Costs
Laurel Park approves a 7.38 million budget funding road projects and a long overdue town improvements plan. Tarheel Paving awarded a 1.16 million contract to pave roads. ARP funds allocated for culverts and stormwater. The tax rate rises to 39.5 cents, 8.5 cents above the revenue neutral rate, with 22 percent higher overall than the prior year. Municipal leaders emphasize road work as a key priority while fire protection costs rise, and Valley Hill Fire and Rescue funds are shifted within the rate. The town plans to spend 1.67 million on roads, funded partly from reserves, with future work to reallocate funds as projects are identified.
