D-Day remembered as Henderson County honors veterans
Henderson County marked D-Day with a flag presentation by the Honor Guard, Pledge of Allegiance led by Mike Murdock, National Anthem by Skip Fendley, Eisenhower speech broadcast, a closing prayer by Rabbi Cohen, and seven tolls of the courthouse bells. Capt. John W. Turner noted the operation’s vast scale and casualties as the Normandy invasion shifted World War II toward Allied victory.
