Hendersonville Street Dance History Traces Roots in 1917 to 1919 Era
Local history researchers contest Lucius Morse as originator of Hendersonville street dances arguing the first events occurred in 1917 or 1918 with WWI homecomings. Evidence cites 1919 celebrations and 1924 requests to close Main Street for dancing, while Lon Brookshire is often credited as the early promoter.
