The Dirty Dancing remake spent nearly a million dollars direct to Hendersonville Main Street shops hotels and restaurants as a large production crew and about a dozen stars visited. Tourism officials credit the project with significant county benefits while crews stayed in local hotels rented cabins and Kanuga Conference Center hosted most filming at its historic cabins and wooded sites.

Publix completes land purchase for Hendersonville store
Publix, Lakeland based grocer, closed on June 8 on six parcels to build a 49,000 square foot supermarket on seven acres along Greenville Highway, its first Hendersonville location. The site sits near Fresh Market, Harris Teeter and an Ingles under construction, amid a crowded local grocery fight. The firm, Publix North Carolina, plans a pharmacy and faces competition from four standalone drugstores and two in-store pharmacies.
