Hendersonville native urges support for youth
Hendersonville native Andre Briggs urged attendees at the 15th annual Martin Luther King Jr Unity Breakfast to live King’s dream by helping others beyond self. A 1984 Hendersonville High School graduate and longtime Charlotte police detective, Briggs plans to start a Hendersonville mentoring program for at risk youth and urged the community to stand up for those they don’t know. He spoke amid rising racial tension and called for action over words, stressing community responsibility and non selfish service. Performances by local artists followed the address.
