K-3 class-size mandate would cost $3.5 million
Henderson County schools face a $3.5 million annual bill for new personnel and 21 mobile classrooms to meet a state class-size mandate for kindergarten through third grade. The plan could trigger larger classes in higher grades or cuts to non-core subjects if funding isn’t found. The school board reviewed the measure after a site visit to Edneyville Elementary and a briefing by HR chief Scott Rhodes.
