Flat Rock Park Opens With Limited Use and Plans
Flat Rock’s Park at Flat Rock opened on Friday Dec 13 with light activity. The village council bought the former Highland Lake golf course for 1.15 million and has set aside about 832000 for park upgrades aided by a 475000 Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant. A Park Advisory Board was appointed, and initial priorities include a walking trail restrooms a picnic pavilion and a new entrance. The park features a 1.5 mile perimeter walk and aims to preserve the natural ambience with future playgrounds and educational wetlands area under consideration.
