Laurel Park roundabouts split residents as plans advance
Residents debate Alternative 2 for roundabouts on U.S. 64 and a median near Laurel Park. Opponents say two-lane traffic and circles worsen entry to U.S. 64 and hinder left turns for businesses. Nearby Mills River considers N.C. 191 bike lanes and sidewalks, with mixed support and concerns over costs. Public meetings planned after design through fall 2017.
