Film Continued From Page 2 at Mountain Jewish Festival
The first Mountain Jewish Festival hosts a Sunday program from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Agu das Israel with Beckerman’s film looping. It recounts Harry Mottsman’s migration from Poland to the United States, his start in Hendersonville with Central Cleaners, and the family’s later ties to local business and heritage. The film also features stories of the Army store founders and Edward Lewis’s dry goods venture, while Agudas Israel traces its growth and historic poker nights at the synagogue.
