Henderson County Refinances Loans Saving 1.3 Million

Henderson County will save about 1.3 million dollars through refinancing a 2005 loan used for the Human Services building and Dana Elementary School renovations. Banks bid 1.98 to 2.36 percent, with TD Bank winning the refinancing for 14.3 million of the debt, reducing overall debt costs.

Sandburg site could set visitation record

Flat Rock Carl Sandburg National Historic Site may exceed 100000 visits in the budget year ending September 30 as monthly visits run 15 to 20 percent above average. About 58 percent of visitors are locals and 42 percent come from out of town, with an estimated economic impact of 4.3 million dollars. The site won expansion approval in 2008 and planners seek more land on Big Grassy Mountain and parking. Councilman Jerry Smith praised the park as kid friendly.
