PBA Endorses Summey in North Carolina Sheriff Race
The Mountain Chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association endorsed Erik Summey in the May 6 primary. Sheriff Charlie McDonald and challenger Summey clash over employment at will, due process, and how deputies can be disciplined or fired. Summey, a 17-year veteran, has argued he would not use the at-will policy, citing past decline under Sheriff Davis.
