Japanese warplanes bomb Shanghai as reinforcements rush to the front. Heavy shelling on the north station area presumed to involve demolition bombs. Rail lines and tracks destroyed south of TaMeetown and at Tangkou as Chinese forces resist.
Montgomerss West Virginia and Ohio passenger train collided with a truck at Timneford grade crossing tonight. The dead include Willard Fo Tames about 60 the truck driver Elia Len of the state police raid was the driver of the truck. Vilors T Brown Heisha Brown their four children William Ayrile Ruby and Donnie aged 12 and 1% were killed.
In Denver on Sept 26 John P Frey head of the AFL Metal Trades denounced the National Labor Relations Board as biased toward John L Lewis C10 rebels. He claimed communists funded and organized many new C10 unions and urged board reforms to curb power over craft and industry unions. Washington Sept 24 The record discusses impeachment as a process that would begin with a House indictment and culminate in a Senate trial. It examines whether Justice Black could be impeached for Klansman ties, noting oath conflicts with the Supreme Court justice’s duties and the need to prove ongoing Klan membership at the time of his appointment. West Yellowstone Mont Sept 26 President Roosevelt ended two days of seeing Yellowstone National Park and said the chief problem now is caring for people rather than birds animals and fish. He noted 260 090 visitors in 1929 and stressed future needs to handle crowds while praising the park’s wonders and meeting Edmund B. Rogers superintendent. He plans a Northwest tour including Idaho Oregon Washington and British Columbia returning to Spokane for a two week journey.
A compromise settlement of a clerks union strike at Montgomery Ward and Company in the city was announced after a special conference. The agreement sets minimum weekly wages of 17.20 for women and 26.50 for men, apprentices at 14.8 per week rising to 20, and provides one week vacation after one year and two weeks after two years. The union resumes operations, with no discrimination against strikers and restoration of union recognition. Representatives from Ward's and the union attended the talks, which began Saturday night and ended early Sunday morning.
Edward H. Boos, 60, advertising manager of the Missoula Mercantile, died at home after a long illness. He came to Montana from Kentucky with his parents, George and Mrs Boos, in 1888. The family previously lived in Helena, where Boos’ father published the Helena Journal. In 1894 the family moved to Missoula, where the elder Boos published the Missoulian during the Helena Ta Montana capital struggle.

Grenville T. Himmer, newly appointed United States minister to Austria, died in Vienna from double pneumonia after a brief illness. Former law partner of President Roosevelt, he had led the American ministry here for ten days after his July 6 appointment.
Kansans City Sept 26 The American Bar Association leader Frederick Lundfield says the group plans to oppose President Roosevelt's Supreme Court overhaul, calling the plan unequal and a challenge to the legal profession. He urged public faith in lawyers and warned of a "Supreme court atmosphere" at the 50th annual convention. Senator Burke of Nebraska will speak Thursday night as the convention debates court reform and committee action proceeds.

A Tri-State Yellowstone Park association delegation from Montana Wyoming and Idaho met President Roosevelt to urge keeping Yellowstone open. They argued the early closing order was an economy move and asked for a reversal as roads remained passable for access while local businesses faced hardship.
Missouri sophomore Waters, 18, was found shot to death in a fraternity house. Police say the pistol was fired during a late night religious discussion with Kilpatrick, who claimed Waters uttered a desire for a communion with his Maker and that the act was accidental. The weapon was a .38 revolver, and the bullet lodged in the wall near the bed. Waters’ father, Albert Waters of Kansas City, stated the shooting was accidental and requested no investment.
Charles C. Ross a 71 year old retired card manufacturer was abducted last night while driving home from a dinner engagement with his former secretary Florence Freihaga 45 in Chicago. Captain Gilbert said he would await word from doctors and suspects hoodlums may be responsible. FBI agents were called but did not comment. Witness Milas Wrothiga described as a friend of the family told officers and was later released.
Madrid reports widespread fighting as insurgents attack Toledo and positions near Aragon while government troops, aided by reinforcements, fall back but press forward. Washington reports a sharp rise in internal revenue for the year ended June 20. Total collections increased 1.132 billion dollars, up 83.2 percent from the prior year, driven by higher taxes, payroll levies under the social security act, and business gains. Individual income tax receipts rose 52 percent, corporate gains up 43 percent, with undistributed corporate profits surtax a factor.
