Detroit police hear Chester sézlub claimed somnabulism in his trial for the shooting of his wife at their home on April 4. A jury found him not guilty of murder but of manslaughter with a recommendation for mercy. Three children testified their father was a habitual sleepwalker and that the couple often quarreled. Prosecutor Ben H Cole presented evidence he was intoxicated at the time of the shooting.
Two brutal holdup men assaulted Henry Kento, a Finn laborer, at a depot in Melilla Spain Morocco, nearly beating him to death and robbing him of $40. The incident occurred as authorities investigated a large explosion at Hort Caberiza pad, where many soldiers perished.
Andrew W Mellon, secretary of the treasury, replies to a charge by publican county chair M Setzer that he is connected with distilling. Mellon says the Democratic speakers’ statements are false and that he has never been actively engaged in the distilling business or had any interest or connection with liquor distillation since taking office.
Chicago Sep 26 AP Death in the electric chair will be demanded for Angelo Pretty, accused abductor of Billy Ramer, when the state tries him on indictments charging him with kidnaping for ransom and extortion. Petitti was indicted for the second time today on 48 counts and will be arraigned Friday. State's attorneys announced they would seek the death sentence under the kidnaping for ransom as a capital crime statute.
Government moves to collect 8.5 million dollars in federal taxes from H M Blackmer were halted as his counsel filed a petition for a determination before the board of tax appeals. The case centers on tax, interest and penalties tied to the Teapot Dome episode and related charges.

They seriously injured their keeper Jobo Roonan, clawing and bruising him before two lions were killed and the third captured after an over hour standoff. Roonan was hospitalized in serious condition in Los Angeles.
