Wilmington North Carolina, September 24. Grorga C Narreil 2B of Goldeboro was killed and Hoy Cavenaugh, 27, of Wallace, seriously hurt when their planes collided during a race at an air show. A crowd of about 6000 watched as both planes nosedived from a low altitude.
The Montana Taxpayers Association reports a more than 50 percent reduction in county indebtedness over seven years. From 1955 to 1959 the net debt fell from 4.56 million to 3.01 million dollars, with reductions due to improvements in warrants and sinking funds. New York Sept 24 Floyd Gibbons famed war correspondent died tonight of heart disease at Cherry Valley Farm near Stroudsburg Pennsylvania. He had retired to farm life after a long and noted career.

Beverly Hills Sept 24 UP Carl Laemmle 72 motion picture producer died at his home today after a heart attack. Born in Germany he rose in Chicago nickelodeon business and founded Universal Studio the largest in the field. He introduced the star system to Hollywood and produced the first million dollar picture Foolish Wiven. Survived by his daughter Mrs Stanley Forgerman and two physicians his son Carl Laemmle Jr and two brothers Siegfried and Louis Laemmle both of Los Angeles. His wife preceded him.
A severe storm off the Southern California coast left at least 28 people unaccounted for after a fishing camp near Point Magu was hit by high winds and heavy surf. Residents from Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and nearby towns were reported missing or stranded, with crews continuing to search amid dangerous seas and rising tides. Local officers warned several fishermen might have reached land or shelter, but exact numbers remained uncertain.

New York September 24 The clash between a German submarine and a freighter American Farmer near Ireland ended with six men drowned and 28 survivors. The submarine fired torpedoes as the carrier John Bushy of the Kalistan and Bren boats joined a rescue.
Copenhagen reports King Christian of Denmark is seriously ill with a heart condition in a communique issued tonight. The king will be 69 on Tuesday as observers note the strain of recent events.
Mintura Colo Sept 24 Two persons were killed and 10 injured in two nearly simultaneous automobile accidents on US 26 near Mintura. The leading car struck a bridge abutment after a sudden brake to avoid wreckage. two occupants died. The driver, Malcolm McCloud, and a passenger were injured. A third car rear ended Lundgren's, contributing to the fatalities.
