A five year program costing 43.14 million dollars would make the federal government the owner of post office buildings now leased in 198 cities, under a plan recommended to President Hoover by Postmaster General Brown. The report, prepared after charges of bid rigging in lease contracts, defends professional bidders but notes bonds by lessors may exceed fair value. Brown faulted lessors financing methods rather than contract terms. At St Paul Brown referenced the issue.

Body of missing barber found sparked confession in murder
Baker, Sept 24 AP discovery of Vincent Butler known as Bud, a local barber, in a dry creek north of Pleva sparked a partial unraveling of a three week mystery. Tom Lane, a Fallon county farmer, confessed to killing Butler during a dispute and hiding the body after transporting it for two days. Lane said Alf Benson accompanied him, and that Butler stole money from him. Lane claimed he fired to frighten Butler and subsequently buried the body near Plevoe after leaving Marmarth, with Benson present. Butler had worked in Baker for four years and was from Des Moines, Iowa.
