Helena painter dies in hunting accident near Townsend
John J. Marshall aged 35, a Helena painter, was shot and killed by a shotgun discharge while placing the weapon in a car during a grouse hunt in Confederate Gulch about 10 am yesterday. Dack Sohn, on the hunting party, said the full charge struck Marshall in the stomach and suggested the safety mechanism may have been displaced by the blast.
