The week showed continued gradual acceleration toward the autumn peak with fewer irregularities. Agriculture and retail trade were affected by unseasonable weather. steel trade advanced slowly while hopes for a sharp turn upward in railroads and agricultural equipment persisted. Car loans rose to a new yearly high.
At Roosevelt Field on September 18 aviation officials prepare for three cross country races to Spokane Washington as part of National air races. Prizes total 43000 and 42 derby planes, the largest gathering since Mitchell Field 1926, will compete in class B races starting at 5 30 a m EST with planes taking off at one minute intervals.
A Seagull airliner en route from Everett Washington to San Francisco caught fire in mid-air and crashed on the north slope of Mount Shasta. The plane was destroyed by fire but no injuries were reported. The crash occurred during an air race event and details are from a report received tonight.
Parle Sept 18 Six hundred women officially delegated to the auxiliary convention will tour Paris during a sightseers visit. They spent today along the Seine and in Tempting districts, breakfasting on French rolls and coffee and viewing attractions. They will join the region parade tomorrow in costumes blue with the slate name, presenting color and pageantry for the visiting delegation.

The act would stiffen penalties for receivers of stolen goods and seek state adoption to curb crime and reduce losses cited as up to 500 million dollars nationwide.
Arthur A. Koscinski of Detroit was taken into custody in a hotel raid in Chicago but was exonerated by U.S. Commissioner Irenny G. Deiter. He testified he entered the room unknowingly while the occupant, Alexander Nowakowski, a Detroit restaurant owner, was present.
Bend Oregon September 18 AP further search of the Thre Sisters for the bodies of Guy Ferry and Henry Cramer both of The Dalles who disappeared ten days ago was abandoned today after days of snowbound climbing and perilous crevasses.

Lyle Messner, 14, confessed to the slaying of Kathleen Forrest, 6, in Cedar Tapirs. The girl's body was found in a basement hole after an all night search. the police report says death was by suffocation. Messner was picked up in Rock Island Illinois and upon return made the confession. His parents faced obstruction charges as the investigation continued.

New York Sept 18 A youth named Charles Wills 22 a clerk leaped into the river when his straw hat blew into the water while he talked with a friend on the shore of the last river in an effort to recover it. He was drowned despite attempts to save him.
Kenosha report notes a vehicle collision that fatally injured Ronalyn Worre, 20, with driver Raymond Gillagon, 22, from Pleasant Prairie. The unnamed boy reportedly killed himself after the crash, grieving the loss and fearing the danger to his cousin.
At a Chicago football game on September 18 a crowd of about 200 attacked officers who tried to arrest Bernard Klein 42 for baiting the referee. Police retreated as bricks and shots were fired. Klein and three crowd members were taken to the station after a riot call.

Missoula, Sept 16 AP George Depheips a 17 year old Missoula boy drowned in an irrigation ditch at Ronan 60 miles north of Missoula this morning while duck hunting. An explosion aboard the Jini steamer I Termada bound for Genoa was reported after arriving at Almeria. one man killed ten injured.
