Two tornadoes ripping across Nebraska and South Dakota left at least 12 dead and scores hurt. The Nebraska twister struck near Pender and swept toward Sioux City, damaging the Chicago and Northwestern depot at Dakota City and wrecking several farm buildings. Two children died and 25 pupils were injured when a country school near Walthill was demolished.
San Juan Porto Rico September 18 AP damage estimated at about 2 000 000 from a tropical hurricane that struck this morning and was still raging this evening. Wind reached peak around 2 50 P M with anemometer at 122 miles an hour before it was ripped from its mount. Winds over 100 miles an hour continued for five to six hours.

Asheville N C Sept 19 Edwartd B Kelly New York businessman long sought after his mysterious disappearance from his summer home here last Tuesday was found tonight in a doped condition Police said he was unconscious two hours after being found and physicians were using a stomach pump to revive him His condition was listed as serious He had only 175 dollars on him but wore several hundred dollars when last seen

He targets eastern churches and hints at progress toward reintegration, praising efforts and noting influence of Catholic National Welfare Association aided by Father Elmand Walsh and U S donors.
A blast at the Standard Oil refinery in El Segundo on the coast killed three men and severely burned seven others. Fire and rescue crews battled flames as investigators began to determine the cause. The incident occurred tonight and involved a battery of crude oil tanks at the facility.
At Mines Field Los Angeles on September 13 Colonel Charles A Lindbergh piloted as Lieutenants Woodring and Cornelius joined in Immelman turns before thousands of spectators awaiting the New York Los Angeles flight. The sequence included loops and barrel rolls, evenly shared by the trio of planes.
Cleveland Ohio September 12 AP Phil Jaworski one of the men who engineered the Pittsburgh express hijacking and escaped from Allegheny county jail while awaiting execution for a guard death, was shot and captured here. He had killed Patrolman Anthony Wieczore and wounded George E Effinger during a holdup. Effinger and two Pittsburgh detectives pursued Jaworski into a restaurant then to a nearby house in a lumber-yard area. A fierce exchange left Wieczorek dead and Effinger wounded as Jaworski fled and was cornered by police. A companion was not located as the man was pursued by a flying squad and patrol officers. In Peoria Illinois Rev J E Sellington Altoona Pa urged removal of Alfred E Smith from Methodist pulpits nationwide. The Rev Mr Kingdon said Smith’s political practices in two years caused opposition. Emergence Willand Horakatnako refused to endorse due to political aspects of the church meeting.
Geneva reports a six power conference plans a possible withdrawal from the occupied Rhineland under a commission of conciliation and verification. Germany is open to evacuation discussions and the plan would place control in that commission if implemented.

Bozeman Montana September 13 Governor J E Erickson crowns Ruth Robinson of Belgrade as Queen of Gallatin County before a crowd at the Intermountain fair. He spoke informally and plans to attend the Madison County fair in Twin Bridges tomorrow.
Mera. Alfred J. Brosseau of Greenwich Connecticut president general of the National Society of the D A R was a guest of the Mount Hyalite chapter in Bozeman today. She met with six other Montana chapters and spoke at the Gallatin Gateway Inn outlining the society work and policies.
Los Angeles court heard Dr. Paul Bowers state that Leo P. Kelley was inclined to degeneracy and that bruises on victim Mia de Mollina were inflicted during an emotional orgy. Under cross examination, Bowers kept his view of Kelley while defense witnesses questioned Kelley’s character and conduct in the days leading to the death.
