WPA Officials in Kentucky Questioned Over Political Canvass
Washington Sept. 9. Harry L. Hopkins told the senate campaign expenditures committee he saw no cause for disciplinary action against WPA officials in Kentucky who canvassed political affiliations of relief workers in two counties Russell and Pulaski due to a complaint that Republicans were overrepresented among those certified for relief and Democrats were discriminated against. He ordered a further investigation into an 18 000 worker canvass in another Kentucky district. In two cases of alleged vote influence, discipline was taken. A WPA keeper denied under oath soliciting signatures for a WPA project. The committee voiced disappointment that no investigation results had been reported and forwarded additional evidence to Hopkins. Continued on Page 10.

Body Identified as Victim in Olympian Crash
A body recovered from the Yellowstone river near Sidney is identified as Henry Schultz, 77, of Tacoma Washington. Schultz was among the victims of the Milwaukee Road Olympian wreck near Missoula on June 19. Identification was by his son Robert Schultz of Sioux City Iowa. The body was sent to Tacoma for burial. Forty five lives were lost with two still missing.
