Jackson to Hear Arguments Today in Matien Case
Judge Joseph R. Jackson will hear arguments this afternoon on a motion by A Spaulding for a judgment on the pleadings in favor of H Martein in a suit against state officials to prevent salary payments to members of the state board of equalization and their employees. The court had earlier issued a temporary restraining order blocking payments pending further proceedings, contending the 1922 amendment creating the board was not properly submitted. The attorney general has stipulated with Spaulding as facts, and Spaulding seeks a permanent order based on the stipulation and pleadings.

Awards for District Coal Contracts to Local Firms
School district trustees awarded the bulk of coal contracts for fall and winter to James Derham and the Hoffman Coal Company. Derham receives about 1200 tons of Roundup standard coal at 940 per ton and 400 tons of lump run at 4.9 per ton. Hoffman Coal won 400 tons of Roundup slick at 4.76 per ton. Prices include delivery to school house bins. Trustees may buy forkings at 33 per ton. Slack price is about 25 cents under last winter. Other prices are about the same as a year ago.

Silver Producers to Form Organization in Nevada Meeting
Ansoculed Press reports Reno Nevada on September 4 ground work was laid for a silver export association by representatives of about two thirds of silver producers. Twenty committees were formed to organize a convention beginning tomorrow to consider an export association with Amator Key Pituhwan of Nevada outlining action.
