Washington November 24 AP The department of commerce moved to stimulate private aviation by allocating 10 million dollars to cities and towns with inadequate facilities. Eugene Vidal aeronautics chief said funds will depend on demand and need, with about 39 million of the grant to go to labor and create about 60,000 jobs. Applications should be filed within two weeks.
Phuwnshare Noo uh Nov 24 AP report a Cornell University student Chelan Havel Cohen of New York said he has been released by masked captors on a rural road near a farm two days after being kidnapped from Ithaca New York. Cohen's father Emanuel Cohen New York attorney met with police and Justice agents as authorities investigated the case and a note from Beth-Tehem Pennsylvania said the youth was under guard and warned they would hear from him later.
Livingston reporter notes Ed Rose doubts skeleton found near Fairview matches his brother Gordon Rose who vanished in Richland County years ago. The fragmentary description suggests a possible identity tied to a ranchhand disappearance and suspected murder.
Senator Elbert Thomas of Utah told Louisiana citizens they could appeal to Congress for federal intervention if the state’s republican government was endangered by Huey P Long’s political dominance. Havana Nov 24 AP United States Ambassador Sumner Welles became central in a bitter Cubans dispute over recognition and action.
At Rolse Idaho on November 24 the National Grange ended a busy session by adopting a resolution in favor of corrective inflation. The body urged a fair value for the dollar and proposed non interest bearing treasury notes to fund partial public works. Officers were elected, including Louta J. Taber of Jolmmbua beginning a sixth two year term as master.
In Pihecias Beverly Hills Capit, November 24, a Cuban delegation arrived in Montevideo for a peace conference. Shanghai dispatch reports a Sikorsky patrol plane crashed on Chufan island killing or injuring ten aboard. Countess Carlinie, wife of Sir Miles Lampoon, and American aviator William Khmerr suffered broken ankles and severe injuries. seven others were lightly to moderately hurt.
Warm Springs Georgia November 24 General Rugh Johnson arrived to a tense scene as the NRA code dispute with Henry Ford hues to the forefront. Johnson indicated Ford may have complied with the automobile code though legal department disagreements persisted.
San Francisco November 24. A signal from two men on a boat seeking the body of Bracka Hart, kidnapped San Jose youth, near the San Mateo bridge was misread as a body sighting. When approached, the signal was revealed as a request for drinking water.
New York on the eve of Litvinov’s Moscow voyage he declared US recognition of Russia will tilt the scales toward peace. At an American Russian Chamber of Commerce banquet he warned that preparations for a new war are underway and that a rising generation is being taught glorification of war. He stood under the Stars and Stripes beside the red flag with hammer and sickle.
Tendon Nov 24 AP The British government’s approval of Italy’s four power western European peace pact was announced by Foreign Secretary Sir John Shusa before the House of Commons. The move is seen as boosting a possible central arms discussions among France Germany Italy and Britain in Rome while League machinery sits temporarily in abeyance.
The Montana Civil Works commission approved its initial list of state, county, and municipal projects at the first meeting. About 6,000 relief workers will begin regular pay next week.
