First draftees to be summoned under peacetime law
Washington reports the army will call the initial draftees tomorrow under the peacetime conscription bill signed by President Roosevelt. About 100 men in Illinois, with small groups in New England Chicago and the Pacific coast will begin military training as the nationwide call reaches 800,000 men by next June 30. Some areas start Tuesday while others wait for later drafts.

Helena high school’s $60 000 aeronautics and related trades building at the airport will be dedicated at 2 30 this afternoon with an impressive program. Anaconda Boy of 13 Killed in Hunting Accident
Anaconda Nov 17 Carl Shepka 14, of Anaconda, was killed today when a rifle discharged during rabbits hunting at Lost creek five miles north. The weapon went off as he and three companions unloaded shells. He died instantly. Others aged 13 and 10 will be questioned. Carl’s parents and two sisters survive.

Battered Tanker San Marino Reaches British Port
London November 17 The battered tanker San Marino pulled into a British port today, accounting for 34 of 58 vessels in a convoy scattered in mid Atlantic by a German raider earlier this month. Four ships in the convoy, defended by HMS Jervis Bay until she went down, are known to be lost.

Body of 23-Year-Old Woman Found Near Champaign Hedge
In Champaign Illinois on November 17 the body of 23-year-old divorcee Mary Catherlow Hlott of Decatur Illinois was found with a crushed skull in a hedge on the city outskirts after an anonymous call reported a dying girl in the bushes. Police say she was killed with a brick and sexually assaulted.
