In Freehold New Jersey a 10 year old girl is hospitalized after an assault by a man wearing a black mask and raincoat. An all day search by armed posses sought the masked assailant, with police questioning four men found near an abandoned hut. The girl, threatened on her walk to school near Parsonville, reported the attack and concussion symptoms, while authorities reviewed clues including a nearby hut and running clocks.
The Tongue River Indian Reservation land allotment bill, allocating agricultural lands to individual Indian residents, was approved by the Senate and sent to conference. Previously lands were held for the tribe as a whole but the measure would make the lands the property of individual residents.
For the second time since it was baill Nevada's lethal gas chamber is set to operate. Stake Jukich aged 28, John Idnlph 86, and Guadaloupe Acosta 54 were slated for execution but only Jukich will face the gas. Idnlph and Acosta have had sentences commuted to life imprisonment. Randolph received commutation yesterday and Acosta earlier.
Portland Oregon May 20 The liquor question will be an active issue in Oregon's primary election tomorrow. The campaign closed today with spirited fights for nominations for United States senator and governor. A unidentified woman jumped from Northern Pacific passenger train No. 4 east of Avon about two miles from Missoula and was struck by NP train No. 3 westbound shortly after. The incident occurred tonight. the No. 4 crew learned of the jump as they passed Elliston and notified the other train, but the search found no victim until the collision.
The state board of pardons ruled Slanka In kich will die by lethal injection and John H Randolph will serve life in prison. In kich killed his sweetheart a 16 year old girl. Randolph killed his mother. Randolph won clemency after a lawyer petition. the board found the crime not premeditated.
The AGH School hosts a noon parade displaying the Canyon Ferry stage coach once operating between Helena amid heavy wear from old heists. Parade starts at the High school, proceeds down Lawrence Street to Main Street, then to the car barn, with return along Fuller Avenue to Broadwater for a picnic lunch and a pavilion dance and spranks for the afternoon.
The senate passed a bill to create four new land offices in Montana at Helena Miles City Lewistown and Glendive replacing abolish ed offices. One office each would also be established in Oregon Latrande South Dakota Kapil Cary and Idaho Bailey to restore functions previously removed by an executive order.
Washington May 204 The senate today passed the house bill to grant right of passage for navy through public lands and reservations to any canal ditch company irrigation or drainage district formed for irrigation or drainage under state or territorial law.
New York May 20 AP describes a witness recounting a party at Kay Carrol theater where champagne was allegedly used in a bathtub. Arthur Irwin of the Daily Mirror testified he attended from late Feb 22 until around 6 a.m. the next morning and had two drinks from the tub as the grand jury investigation continued.
A major explosion at a powder mill near Hensloch Bavaria wrecked the building. Official reports indicate several workers were killed or seriously injured. The blast, felt for miles, hurled heavy machinery into the air while flames hampered rescue efforts.

New York May 20 A $100000 gift from John D Rockefeller Jr to the Sesqui Centennial fund of Phi Beta Kappa was announced today by local members. Rockefeller, president of the Phi Beta Kappa Foundation, serves on the Sesquicentennial fund committee. The fund will support a practical scholarship program with rewards for scholastic attainment including an annual grand prize of $10000.
Columbis May 204F D G Badger former mayor of Cal umbus and congressman and former judge at Frankliy county common pleas court killed himself today. The suicide occurred as he was to appear before police prosecutor John J Chester regarding his knowledge of an alleged perjury at Fayette county courts about a year ago at Wadinglow Courthouse.
Mark M. Perry former Wisconsin prohibition director pleaded guilty in a conspiracy charge over allowing legal withdrawal of liquor at free wirehouses in Plemouth Wisconsin. The judge ordered the plea entered and sentence deferred in federal district court.
Los Angeles May 20. Crowds pressed toward Angelus Temple amid rumors about the evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, who vanished Tuesday. Supporters prayed and claimed she with Jesus as detectives investigate every angle including a reported sighting of McPherson in a car with another woman.
Captain Thomas J. Betts of the United States Army, attached to the American legation, was released by bandits in Yunnan province after being captured May 17. American Consul Myers reported the capture to the legation seeking release assurances to the foreign office and Governor Tang Chi Yao. Also reported, an anti Christian mob flooded the Kadhek American Presbyterian mission, damaging property after forcible entry May 13.
