Chicago May 16 AP Convicted by his son deck Yusewietz of Gary Ind was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Florence Guazea 14 of East Chicago in the fall of 1924 His 21 year old son testified that his father came home with blood on his clothing and admitted the killing The boy later told juvenile officers after police searched Cutilly for a crew to the slaying The case hinged on the son's testimony and led to the father's life sentence.

Miami reports two hundred eighty passengers were taken off the Clyde Line steamship Seneca after it grounded a mile from Miami harbor following a leak that filled part of the hold. The ship, en route to New York from Hollywood, could not clear the channel and was towed to harbor after pumps removed water. Passengers were ferried by relief boats and continued by train northward.
San Jose May 1. Fred Zeigler 21 a special aeronautics student at the University of California died after his parachute failed to open during a first attempt. He fell about 4600 feet in full view of more than a thousand spectators.
On York in May William Jennings Bryan Jr. is to replace his late father as chief counsel for Tennessee in the Scopes appeal before the state Supreme Court. Mr Hegan filed a brief arguing police authority can control education. The ACLU challenges the constitutionality of the Tennessee law under which Scopes was convicted.
Mrs. E. G. Phillins rushed into a burning home to save her 11 year old son and infant Mona Iipa. She lowered herself from a second story window to flee the flames and suffered serious injuries including a broken leg and back strain.
