Nogales Arizona May 11 AP Out of control in high winds a mountain forest fire has burned 15000 acres of timber over three days sweeping the Patagonia range in south Arizona. It threatens Har Abaw and mining camps like Tres de Mayo and Morning Glory as cattlemen move stock to the lowlands. The fire spans a 30 mile front eating south and east through the Dusquesna section with peaks lit by flames and volunteers recruited in Nogales. The blaze can be seen for 50 miles.

Captain Ronald Smith, famed British aviator, was killed when the Aleth plane he piloted crashed during an attempted aerial maneuver near a marsh at the edge of Lowell. The aircraft was destroyed.
