Balloonists Fail To Break Record In Salim Cup Attempt

In Golcanda ML on May 1 Captain Der Chatdlee of the United States signal service and J O McCoy of New York attempted to beat the Lye Tong-dinge record and win the Salim cup. The balloon left St Louis around 7:22 p m Tuesday aiming to travel south of Golcanda for about five miles north of the town. Costs were high with 340 ubis at stern hours. The crew hoped to reach New York, with Chandley and others planned to travel by wagon to Clintonville.
